Stitched - Hello Baby

Hello Lovely.  We're stitching again.  I just love this tag from MFT and the free patterns you can find on their site.  These baby tag cards turned out so cute!

I started with the "boy" version by die cutting the MFT Scalloped Cross Stitch Tag from blue cardstock.  I stitched the footprints using six-stand DMC thread in white.  These patterns are really easy to follow, and this little tag took just a couple of hours to make.

I used six-stand DMC thread #321 to stitch the heart and completed the tag by cutting a solid tag from the same blue cardstock to create the back of the tag.  By doing this I was able to create a solid blue background without stitching in every hole.  I used a stamp positioner to get perfect placement for my sentiment.  The sentiment was created by pulling the word "baby" from the Honeybee Flakey Sentiments set and the "hello" from the Technique Tuesday Wildflowers set.  I was able to use the magnets to hold my tag in place for stamp placement, then I could remove the tag and get a crisp stamped image using VersaFine Onyx Black ink.  I added a white bow to the top of the tag and adhered it to the white card base to complete the "boy" card.

For the cute "girl" tag card I used the same MFT die and cut my tag from kraft cardstock.  I stitched the footprints using DMC Pearle thread size 5 #605.  I really like stitching with the size 5 Pearle much better than the DMC 6 strand.  I feel like it fills in the hole and creates a smoother finish.

I stitched the heart with DMC Pearle thread size 5 #603.  To complete the tag I cut a solid tag from the same cardstock to create the back.  I added some sheer ribbon and secured it with a bow of matching thread.  I used the same sentiment and stamping method for this card, stamping it with MFT Hot Fudge Hybrid ink.  I added the cute tag to complete the card.
